Friends,
I am attempting to run not less than 26 full marathons and 4 ultra-marathons over a period of 12 months to raise money for charities supporting causes about which I feel strongly, in social and geographic areas with which I have personal ties, and almost as importantly, completely free of any political or religious inclination or entanglement. "After you have donated directly to the charities via the links provided, you can help me track the progress towards our $30,000 + dollar goal by sending an email to rick@marathonsforhope.org stating the amount of your highly appreciated contribution." I am trying to lend some hope and healing to people who are, in a variety of ways, none pitiable, in need of this support. None of the donations will go to me or to support the logistical underpinnings of this effort; 100% of all contributions will go directly to the charities. All charities are properly accredited, certified, and listed through appropriate national agencies, such as, the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC).
I will dedicate each race to the memory of Service members I have known or know of. Additionally, if you would like to assist by means other than, or in addition to, financial support such as: contributing your time, unique expertise, personal contacts, savvy ideas, or living room floor, should you live near one of my races, please contact me at rick@marathonsforhope.org With the exception of my brother, sister, and webmaster Mike Toone, I have very little assistance in making this program work. We could really use your help. Lastly, please help me spread the word. Family, friends, rugby teammates, and a few of my military colleagues have given significantly to this effort. However, the effort to meet my goal can best be met by reaching the widest support base. Fifty $5 donations (1/2 a beer in Japan) will go farther than one person digging especially deep for a lump grant. Raising awareness of the services these organizations offer is nearly as important as raising the money so desperately needed to help them continue operating and completing their very worthwhile missions. Thank you for your time and support for my vision. Best regards, Rick Ryan |
